INTENTIONAL COFFEE SOURCING and DIRECT TRADE:

What is Intentional Coffee Sourcing? First coined by Viva Coffee Roasters, Intentional Coffee Sourcing is a combination of fair trade, direct trade, and strategic trade with the intention to elevate the origin at its core. In our case, this is highlighted by our focused sourcing with Honduran farmers and co-ops which enables Viva to not just establish direct trade relationships, but also deep dive into the granular details of the beans including flavor profiles, environmental conditions, and different processing methods across different regions in the entire country. Our vision is to contribute to a better world, one where everyone can live with dignity, love, and respect. To achieve our vision, we only partner with small farmers or cooperatives and we trade directly with them, we follow fair trade practices, and we intentionally collaborate with them to further elevate their capabilities and processes . This also means that we are able to pay a fair price for high-quality coffee, which provides farmers with the resources they need to invest in their farms and be able to meet the needs of their families.

We travel to Honduras every year, drive around the country to meet with our farmers, and we shake their hands in exchange for their high-quality beans. We manage the supply chain ourselves which allows us to decouple the price paid for the coffee vs the cost to transport the beans to Cincinnati for roasting. Benefits:

We believe that quality is a non-negotiable and our customer satisfaction is first. We have carried over and implemented best practices from highly demanding industries such as automotive. By implementing rigorous production, process, and quality control best practices , we are able to minimize lead-times, ensure quality control, maintain consistency, and provide a better roasted coffee for our wholesale customers.
